When to retire a ledger page
Pages die of kindness — too many marginal notes, arrows, and correction fluid. Retire a page when a new reader would need a guided tour. Copy forward only the living facts: current firmware, active nicknames, open exception items.
Archive storage should be dull: dated envelope, labeled folder, access limited to the same people who can touch the device. Digital scans, if you use them, deserve the same threat model as any sensitive operations file — and still must not include seed material.
A clean goodbye
Write “retired on [date], successor page [label].” That single line prevents future-you from updating a ghost document. For deeper practice, see Module 6 in the flagship studio.
